So here are some of the shows I have been exploring over the years and what I like/dislike about them.
Shows I Like But Probably Wouldn't Buy
Monk
Monk
This is actually really old, but every once in a while I will watch this on Netflix. This show is a crack up and each episode is a murder mystery solved, so it holds my interest. This show follows the same format for most of its episodes, so I'd say a marathon can get monotonous, but I still love this show.
I started watching these on Netflix too. I think that the first two seasons were funnier than the more recent seasons, but I haven't watched up to the current episodes, so I might not be the best judge. Alec Baldwin is super funny and Tracy Morgan is also a riot.Pushing Daisies
I might have posted about this show already. It only lasted two seasons, and it's too bad, because I really liked it. It was super bright and whimsical, just like the picture here. The characters were fabulously portrayed. Each episode also was a murder mystery solved. The plot was getting a little lame near the end of season 2, and I think it had something to do with the writers' strike. Too bad, because I liked this show and could have watched it longer. I loved Kristen Chenoweth! So You Think You Can Dance
Duh. Best reality dance show on TV.Project Runway
Also a no-brainer. If you haven't ever seen this show, you must! It is fabulously entertaining even if you don't sew. It's inspiring and informative too. Granted, the last few seasons have sucked, as far as I'm concerned. Crappy outcomes and crappy and inconsistent critiques from the judges. I'm still loyal though and hoping that they step it up next season. (My suggestions are get rid of Michael Korrs and Nina Garcia!)The Office
Still loving this show. I hadn't watched season 6 at all while it was running, but watched it later on DVD. I don't know why everyone had said that they thought season 6 was lacking, because I thought it was just as funny as the rest of the show. I love (almost) each and every character on this show! Yes, even Andy (actually, he's a favorite) and Kelly. It's hard to find a show that's this funny and that has such memorable characters.Gossip Girl
Sorry, but I watch this show. And I love this show. Don't judge me, it is seriously addicting. And these people are beautiful.Newer Discoveries
Chuck
I. Love. Chuck. This show is really funny! The character Chuck is so endearing. He's basically a computer nerd who works at a Best Buy-type store who gets caught up with the CIA. I don't want to give it away if you haven't seen it. I am still watching season 2 of this show, and I think it's still great. If you haven't seen this show and you like action, geeks, and comedy, this is a great show for you. Start with season 1 though.Modern Family
I just started watching this show on Netflix. And I love it! It is hilarious and very true to life! Family dynamics are pretty stinkin' funny.Pretty Little Liars
Another new show I've picked up. This show is about high school girls whose friend was murdered and they are still trying to figure it all out. It's not the most well-written show, but the acting is decent and the mystery is pretty riveting. I didn't think I'd get hooked on this, but I have to know what happens next!Raising Hope
Okay, this has got to be one of the funniest shows on TV right now. It's basically about a white-trash family trying to raise a baby. It's not for everyone (Peter has no idea why I think this show is so funny) but give a few episodes a try. You might love it like I do.And finally, my favorite show right now!
The Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang Theory
Please watch this show! It is so so funny. I just love the characters and the dynamic of this group. I'm not watching it on TV currently, and it's not available on Hulu, but I do have seasons 1-3 and watch them a lot when I am sewing or doing other projects. I can't get enough of this show.Anything I missed? What are you hooked on these days? What are your classic favorites? Shows you tried, but ended up being lame?

I LOVE Big Bang Theory right now as well. Sheldon...oh my gawwwsh. And Raising Hope as well, so funny! i'm glad someone else watches that too! hahaha
Wow, that is a lot. I could never keep up like that but I go to bed earlier too. Um, I of course watch Biggest Loser faithfully although I am not watching this season. I missed the Premiere and it interferes a lot with Suns Basketball, which is a must for me. I watch all the games. I am excited for more Project Runway which is a must, and SYTYCD. Other than that I don't watch TV but there are some I've seen that I don't really like. Friends is too hokey for me. It's too fake or over the top or whatever you want to say. 70's show I can watch but it kind of brings me down for some reason. I think I find that the characters make me sad. I know it's supposed to be a comedy but it's a downer for me. I LOVE the Office and basically love EVERY character except for Kevin. I have not kept up on it though and hope to own it all someday. I do own seasons 1&2. Monk is so dumb and boring to me, but that's me. I know mom and dad like it...30 rock is probably funny, I just don't have time for more TV I guess. I would like to try out a new show called Harry's Law with Kathy Bates because I freakin LOVE her. on Monday nights on NBC.
LOVE Big Bang Theory!!! It's so funny! And Raising Hope!
I like Castle. It's a Law and Order type... but just the Law part. And one of the main characters is an author, and he makes jokes about every thing.
I also like The Forgotten, and am waiting for that to come back on. I miss it.
You got all my favorites (and then some) but one, Wipeout! Love Raising Hope and Modern Family, of course. I have been told repeatedly to watch 30 Rock, but I just can't because Alec Baldwin is such a putz in real life. Normally I can get over it, but I have such a low opinion of him, that he makes it too hard. Big Bang Theory, hilarious, but I always for get to watch and I can't watch it on Hulu, so it's a no go for me.
Also, I kinda like The Middle. Except I don't like Axl's acting...he overdoes it a lot.
Wipeout is funny! It is definitely an upper, carefree show that is just relaxing to watch at the end of the day.
LOVE Modern Family and always gravitate toward the obvious. . . Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond. I also like Bones when I get the chance to watch. I used to have more favorites. too busy I guess.
I'm dying for Project Runway to return!! Our "staples" are all the same, except for SYTYCD.
Can't believe you got hooked on Pretty Little Liars too. I am always on the edge of my seat for the next episode of that show, soooooo addicting.
I actually caught an episode of Raising Hope when I was visiting my parents back in October and it was pretty hilarious. Probably the only reason I haven't gotten into it is I have way to many other shows I'm watching.
You don't watch SYTYCD Jen? Shame.
(this is Kevin)
for whatever reason Kitty on that 70's show makes me laugh out loud.
I have a hard time getting into a lot of the new shows on your list. I will watch some of the old standards like
the office, friends or seinfeld. I do watch psych once in a while. But I watch mostly College Sports and the NBA, if a team I like (Celtics or Suns) is playing.
I have to say that I agree with all of your reviews (for the ones I've seen, anyway). I too can't wait for Project Runway to come back on. Unfortunately I don't have much to add, we're kind of boring like that. But I wanted to let you know that we went and saw Tangled because of your blog post and we LOVED it!
Dad and Lexie, if I could watch NBA, I would not be watching so many shows! Plus, I really only watch 3 hours of TV a week and an occasional movie. I space it out since I can't watch it when it airs. That's probably less TV than you, Lex, with all the games! Haha. And did you know Kathy Bates is on the Office season 6? SO funny.
Oh, yeah, Wipeout! I will watch that very rarely. It is funny, but I still like MXC better :)
Jen, I never suspected I would get hooked on PLL. I was just curious and thought I'd "check out" one episode! Well, you know how riveting it is, I have to watch the rest now! I had to start on the 3rd or 4th episode because the earlier ones were already off of Hulu.
Kathy Bates on the Office, yeah I'm totally going to own all those now! Yeah I'll admit it, I watch probably 4 NBA games a week, and Sportscenter as well every other day or so. BUT, that's it right now because I am not currently watching any TV shows. It's all NBA for me right now! Yeah buddy!
Yeah, dad and mom both secretly like That 70's Show. Everytime I watch it I find them both standing or sitting at the back table in the family room watching it and laughing. Mother claims that she doesn't like it. But I know she does! ha. Hmm and I love Friends!
I. LOVE. CHUCK! So glad to have found another fan! I have decided I need to marry Zachary Levi :)
I also love Gilmore Girls - I have all the seasons on DVD, but I watch it on ABC Family all the time, it just sucks me in.
Love Chuck too! That's a must for Chad and I every Moday night...besides FHE. And I can't get enough of Modern Family...along with some of the others on your list.
Okay...Tibi ratted me out! I think That 70's Show is funny, although I'm not so sure how good it is for a 16 year old girl...
Yeah I'm with you mom, it is funny, but something about it is depressing to me. I think because it's funny but only about negative things?...anyway, I do pretty much hate Fez, and Kelso is over the top, the rest of the characters I like. Yeah I wouldn't want my teen watching it either ha ha, it's not very moral ha ha, but yes, pretty funny sometimes.
Okay Lex...Fez is one the best! haha
Nope, I like Kitty, Eric and Donna the best out of them all.
True...Kitty, Eric, Donna and Hyde are good :) haha but I do like Fez..
I like a lot of those shows too Connie. There are a few you listed that I don't watch. Some I like that you didn't list... Castle. I love that show! And I like Bones, NCIS and Glee. After our AZ visit and talking with Jen I got hooked on PLL too! If you would like to see the episodes that aren't on hulu, you can buy them on Amazon for $1.99 per episode.
We only have Hulu and Amazon to watch shows on. I like the short commercials and that I can watch it when ever I want and not have to worry about recording, or tivo-ing or scheduling my life around TV. Also I can skip the parts in shows that I don't care for. There is my little plug for online TV! :)
I must REALLY be in the dark ages...I have NO idea what Hulu even is.
I love all of your lists that you do!
