Today I met with the preschool supervisor, speech therapist and psychologist from the Elementary School. We all met together and they told me what the results were from the testing they did on Jonah. They told me that he is doing fine with Motor Skills and Social Behavior, but was below average in Language, Adaptability, and Cognitive Development. They said that the reason he was lower in Cognitive and Adaptability probably is because of his struggles with Language. He has good articulation, but has poor expressive and receptive language skills. The speech therapist and the preschool supervisor made some goals for him that they hope to achieve with him in a year, so we'll see how he does.
He qualifies for the program there, and they said that he can start on Monday! He will go every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for about 2.5 hours. He gets one-on-one speech coaching from the speech therapist on Wednesdays. His preschool teacher is going to be Ms. Arleen, and Ms. Diane is the teacher aide. I met them both and they seem great. His speech therapist is named Meredith. She is the one who conducted the testing on him.
Eventually, he will ride the bus, equipped with 5-point harnesses and a teacher aide to help the kids. For the first week, I am going to drive him (mostly because I am a little anxious about him going on the bus). We have a 2-week spring break after his first week of class, then he'll start going on the bus. They will pick him up and drop him off right in front of our house.
I think he will like it. He sometimes asks about "school", so I think he'll do good! We need to fill out some paperwork, get him a backpack and a few other things, and he'll be ready to go! I'll post pictures on Monday!

I saw this on someone else's blog, and thought it looked like fun. Hope you don't fall asleep!
1. I love to read- I think my favorite book is probably Pride and Prejudice.
2. I have never dyed or highlighted my hair before. EVER.
3. I am afraid of the ocean. I'll go in, but not past my waist. I'm afraid of the riptides and sometimes the ocean animals.
4. I am pretty good at memorizing. I can memorize a song pretty easily.
5. I am bad at keeping secrets from Peter (unless it's something he wouldn't care about anyway). I mean it's hard for me to keep surprises from him.
6. I cry easily- during movies, Primary programs, etc.
7. I have a good sense of direction.
8. I am a real worrier. It was really hard for me to let Jonah stay with my mom and dad even though I know they can take care of him.
9. I love French pedicures.
10. I probably have 15 pairs of flip flops.
11. I like to play sports, although my athletic ability is pretty much reduced to running or waterskiing.
12. I am a Harry Potter freak.
13. I am a Twilight freak.
14. Peter and I can't touch when sleeping- not even our feet.
15. I love most kinds of dogs and want to get one for the kids.

Just a Little Obsession
Recently I discovered that BBC had put out a new film adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's classic, Jane Eyre. I read the book a really long time ago. I love the story, but hadn't seen any of the movies. I think I've seen parts of the Timothy Dalton version made in 1983.
The new version is awesome! I am addicted to it! I first watched it when I rented it on Netflix. Even Peter really liked it. He was surprised that I liked such a spooky movie. I admit, it is a little creepy, but I already knew how things turned out, so it wasn't too scary for me. The two main actors did an amazing job. They were exactly how I pictured Jane and Mr. Rochester to be.
I had to buy it, and after calling two Best Buy locations, a Borders location, and Barnes and Noble, I finally found it! I think that was Saturday night and I have watched it probably three times since then. It is a really romantic story, and if any of you like Jane Eyre, you will probably like it as much as I do! I think that Toby Stephens is just such a great Mr. Rochester, I can't even begin to explain it. I think he gives Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy a run for his money. I don't want to ruin it for those who don't know the story, so I can't go into detail. But it really is a great film and I recommend it if you like period classics, Gothic romances, or beautiful music and scenery!

At Last! No More Break-ins!
Peter and I have had enough. We are sick of our kids breaking into the pantry and dumping out a whole bag of Fruit Loops on the carpet. Or taking out every package of fruit snacks from 5 different boxes and throwing them around like confetti. After a few attempts at keeping the kids out, we have finally done what we should have to begin with.
Attempt #1:
The problem here was that you had to either drill holes into the door, or attach the top part with a little adhesive patch. That didn't last too long, and pretty soon the top part just fell off, rendering this contraption totally useless.
Attempt #2:
These actually worked for a while until Eden either figured it out, or just put so much weight on the handle, that it actually just slid over on its own and opened. Eden will try a million times until she figures it out or it breaks. Jonah would have left it alone, but sure enough, Eden showed him how to open it. Since they have been able to open this one, we have had food everywhere, puzzle pieces and crayons dumped out, and Eden has been trying to get to the houshold cleaners in my craft closet. (We had one on the craft closet door and the pantry door.)

Peter made an ingenious little device that kept the kids from opening the previous door locks. Until they figured out to just remove it. That lasted maybe two days.

If this doesn't work, someone will go in the chokey! We finally broke down and bought new knobs that have a push-button lock on the back side. We can open them from the outside with a little "key" or a bobby pin. Horray! Now our pantry will be tidy and my crafts are safe! We might have some tantrums, but they'll get over it, and maybe if they learn to stop making messes we can replace the handles. But by then Levi might be getting into things...

Furniture Face-lift!
Horray! I finally finished the furniture I inherited for Eden's room. The colors for her room are light aqua blue, white, purple (a medium shade) and a little bit of green. I got her bedding on Ebay- discontinued Pottery Barn Kids. Her room still needs some work, but we're getting there!
Here are the before and after pictures. Sorry, we had already started when I thought to take a few shots of the "before". We had already taken off the old hardware and other embellishments. We decided to do one piece antique white and the other an aqua blue to give the room an accent piece. I really like how they turned out. Kira antiqued them a little bit with Walnut stain and I think she did a really good job. Hopefully these will last for a while! When she outgrows her toddler bedding, I might do her room aqua, green and light pink. We'll see. Anyway, thanks to Kira for doing such a great job!

Eden's First Haircut
I actually did this a few days ago, but couldn't post until now. I was getting sick of Eden's out-of-control mullet, and decided it was finally time to tame it!

Best thing you cooked last week? Probably Crunchy Beef Bake. The name sounds gross, but it's really good!
If money, time, and babysitting were no object, where would you go and with who? On a large scale, I'd go to Mexico or Hawaii with Peter. For a small scale thing, I'd go shopping all day and go get pedicures with my sister, Lexie, and sister-in-law, Jen. Sorry, Lex...I know you don't care about pedicures that much.
When was the last time you cried? Watching the Paul McCartney concert on DVD "The Space Within US". I cried a few times, but especially on the song "Maybe I'm Amazed". He is such a great person, songwriter, performer. I don't like idolizing people, but his work really touches me. My sister, Kira, and I should have been at that concert!
Five things you were doing ten years ago 1998 - Taking 18 credits at Dixie College, working 30 hours a week as a waitress, singing in the Insitute traveling show choir, writing friends on missions, driving home to Logandale as much as possible.

Road Trip to Show Low and Snowflake, AZ
We decided to take a drive up to Show Low and Snowflake (The White Mountains) on Saturday. We had nothing else to do, heard it was pretty, and plus we like to explore. It was only about a 3 hour drive, and the kids did pretty well. They were a little antsy when we got there, and since we knew little about the area, they didn't get much time out of the car. We stopped by the Snowflake Temple. It is situated on the top of a hill that overlooks the town. It was really pretty. Eden was in the middle of having a fit, so the pictures aren't that great.
Overall, it was a nice little drive. The Salt River Canyon was really beautiful!
