I Quit

Sorry to disappoint, but I quit at noon today. ☺Ha ha ha!

Now before you start calling me a quitter, hear me out.

The only reason I even considered starting this early is because Levi learned to take his diaper off and did it twice yesterday and he peed on the floor once. I told Peter and he thought maybe we should potty train him. So I decided maybe I'd try it today and see if he was ready. I think he might be ready, but I realized that I AM NOT!

Here's what happened during this crazy day today. I started training Levi before I even had a shower, so I wasn't really prepared for it anyway. It was more of a random spur-of-the-moment idea. I put him in underwear, the whole time trying to get ready while I watched him to make sure he didn't pee all over. He did end up peeing in those cute Mickey undies a while after I blogged. I expected that much. I changed him into new undies and reminded him to go to the potty if he needed to go. Then a little later, I found him in the bathroom with a puddle on the floor. ( Like I said, today was crazy and he did not have my full undivided attention.) So I think he was trying to get to the potty, but he didn't ask for help and he couldn't get his undies off by himself anyway.

So long story short, I think he could be ready, but I'm not ready to devote the next 2-3 weeks to this little project. I'll try again when he turns three. I really think I want to wait that long. And I bet he'll potty train in less than a week if I do. At least I hope so!

Too bad. I bet it would be nice to be diaper free. Someday, right?

I always potty-train when they're about 3. They're old enough to understand...and it keeps me sane!

Thanks for the sweet comment on the blog, Connie! :-)

I've decided to wait with Sage, too. I thought she might be ready, but she's not even two yet so I'm not sure what I was thinking!

Well, it was worth a shot if he was showing signs of interest. I waited until Aiden was 3 before I even though about it. Gray was ready sooner though. Mabel is already showing signs, but I'm not read...I'd still have to put her on the potty and wipe her, so what's the point?

Exactly, Hollie!

I dislike potty training! I need to start potty training Nick. Though I really don't want to!

I think 3 is the magic age. Good luck. :)

It's too bad YOU are not ready because I think it's pretty impressive that Levi made it to the potty and tried...but it is true that even if you got him to pee in the potty, poop is a whole other story, you would have to wipe him forever before he could do it good enough himself...you might as well save the mess and keep him in diapers. Marce is still regressing. I'm about to pull my hair out because I've realized nothing I do can change it...he's old enough, he has to get better and get over it all on his own. So I'm just waiting for him to outgrow it. He'll be 4 in a week though...I'm not happy about it...

Connie, I love your posts. It is so fun to read what you have written. Sorry the potty training didn't work out. I'm scared to push it on Nicole too, since I know what a headache that means for Mommy. I wonder sometimes what the people around me in the grocery store think when Nicole tells me "I have to go potty", and I tell her to just go in her diaper. (She's only actually performed twice on the potty, so it's not like I'm being neglectful or something! She just wants to be like her big sisters and knows that they always have to go potty whenever we enter any store/library/school, etc.)
