Connie Can't Stand...

My sister-in-law, Jen, did a post a while back listing popular things she didn't like. And since I love complaining, I think I'm going to do it too! I'm entitled to a little negativity after listing so many good things about my kids☺. Please still be my friend if you like these things. Ha ha!

1. Fast food. Um, all I can say is "Oh My Gross." I have become a princess when it comes to fast food. With the exception of an occasional In-N-Out cheeseburger, I do not eat it. I don't count some fresh sandwich places because although it is fast, a veggie sub is a pretty safe bet. (Subway is NOT fresh.)

2. American Idol. I got interested in AI during the end of Season 2, when it was between Ruben, Clay Aiken, and Kimberly Locke. It was an interesting idea for a show. I even watched Seasons 5 and 6 (although not faithfully). And now, I wish I hadn't wasted so much time. I can not take this show seriously. Taylor Hicks? Really? He doesn't even snap on the right beat, which is a major no-no for anyone who is supposed to have rhythm. This show is a circus. I don't need to say anything else about this show. This picture just sums it all up for me.
3. Breaking Dawn. I am selling my copy on Craigslist. What a waste of time. Cheesy and lame, ridiculous dialog, gross images and outcomes, and worst of all, blah... so anti-climactic. I think fan fiction would have been better. I have read a lot of books and good authors aren't afraid to throw some actual conflict into their stories. Where's the fight? Oh, they talk it out? I want to see someone die! Let's have a struggle! I have so many problems with this book, I can't wait for it to be out of my sight. The worst part of all is that it has diminished my love of Twilight and the other two books. Should have never read it. (Picture courtesy of my Craigslist post.)
4. Diaper Bags. Why, oh why did I ever carry these ugly things around? At least the ones I used sort of looked like purses and they NEVER had characters on them. But still... And the pastel-colored diaper bags with Winnie the Pooh on them? Seriously, just because your kid wants to carry around a Winnie the Pooh purse doesn't mean you have to.

5. The "New" Pride and Prejudice. Didn't love it. Maybe the fact that I can't stand Kiera Knightly has to do with it. Oh, and the fact that they left the plot out. And threw George Wickham in there at the end like you actually knew why he was significant to the story... the story they left out of the movie.

6. LDS Fiction. I have tried to like it. I have even read quite a bit of it. I guess in the end, I just don't like the cheesiness and how the authors make up dialog for the prophets. I had to force myself to finish The Work and the Glory before I could read another book, and I wish I hadn't.

7. Misspelling on purpose. This is quite popular these days. This bugs me more than all of these put together! Here's an example:

"Sinful for girls, who should ALWIZ be waring the biggest, fluffiest dresses, shiny shoes, and bows bigger then there heads. It's grate for boys, tho, who look darleen expeshilly in one-peace play outfits (rilly! Until there 5 years old!)."

and here's more:

"Well, I WUD suggest that you shud vaccinate just cuz it's our responsible soshal dutey to keep those icky diseases out of the mainstream! But, we all know how u are prolly the eseption cuz there's not much chance you'd ever get into anything icky anyway, right? So let all the rest of the wurld take care of that garbage. All you hafta do is stay inside for the rest of your life!"

I did not make these up! It bugs me when people make punctuation mistakes or unforgivable grammar no-nos, but come on! To write like that on purpose is a travesty!

Okay, that's enough ranting. I'm going to have to do a "Stuff Connie Likes" post now...

haha...I enjoyed that. Before you hit the "things that Connie likes" post I would really recommend you post another "things that bug me"! I can always use a good laugh and a different outlook on life. Thanks for sharing.

I pretty much agree with you on all of these. Although, I am guilty for liking the new P&P. I'm a fan. Love the music. Love the cinimatography. And I kind of love that the plot is left out. I've read the first half of the book and have seen the old P&P. The plot is totally left out of the new one. The only reason I like it is because I know most of the plot, so I'm not really missing anything. But, to each his own. :) And I pretty much hate the other things you put. Especially the spelling wrong on purpose one. Oh, but I LOVE In-N-Out!

Yes, we can still be friends though we may disagree. :)
I am SO with you on the new P&P, had to force myself to finish watching it.
Oh, and though you know I love AI, I 100%agree about Taylor Hicks!

LOL! You made me totally laugh! I agree on LDS fiction. Can't stand it. But I really do love the new P&P. I love the music and the cinemetography too! And, I really like Mr Darcy. I love the rain proposal scene. I know there are a lot of changes and plot exclusions, but, for a 2 hour movie, I like it. Of course, nothing will replace Colin Firth. But, I enjoy watching the shorter film version too! And, I can't stand when people can't spell either. And, Twilight fanaticism has worn off considerably. : )

Wow. I agree with most of your list...especially the ridiculously dumb diaper bags. A bigger question is...why were they even manufactured in the first place? Dumb, dumb, dumb.
I HATED that Pride and Prejudice movie and will take that a step farther too and say I hate Kiera Knightly movies and clenched-jaw speak.
fun post!

Ha ha! The only thing I disagree on was the LDS fiction. I LOVED the Work and the Glory, mostly for the historical facts. But I enjoyed the fictional part. Probably because I always pictured Joseph Smith the way Lund portrayed him.

You make me laugh. I, too, could not stand "Breaking Dawn" - too anticlimactic. I wanted some fighting and dying to go along with it! Glad I borrowed it and did not purchase it.

Okay, THANK YOU!!! I'm glad to hear that someone out there shares the same opinions that I do! You totally rock.

Diaper bags. Seriously. We've gotten rid of maternity clothes shaped like tents and with ducks printed on them. Diapers bags are next.

Have to say that I love P&P. I thought it was masterfully done though there were a few glaring problems in the relationships and generally having the characters behave as they never would in that period. Jane coming downstairs in her pajamas and not even covering up in front of Lady Catherine? Mr. Bingley bursting into Jane's room? You've got to be kidding me.

And spelling. You're right on, Connie. It's just maddening.

I am with you on fast food. Why did that EVER sound good in comparison to a home-cooked meal? Even some sit-down restaraunts are disappointing. But I must disagree on the LDS fiction! I'm a big fan. I like to read LDS authors because I can still get a decent plot (sometimes) without dealing with the trash that is so often dumped into other novels. And I've never seen the new P&P, but I already know it would never compare to A&E's version. Thanks for the post! It's fun to see your take on things!

Oh, and I'm wondering how in the world you get SO many comments SO fast after your posts! It doesn't matter if I ck your blog and you just posted that day, you STILL will have about 10 before me! Amazing! You have quite the following! :)

Okay, finally...let's review...

1. fastfood - I like it when I've been eating it, which is on the road when I'm about to pass out. Don't like it when I haven't been eating it, which is when I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack the next time I do.

2. AI is entertaining enough as a show, but I agree and hate it because the winner, and often times more contestants get record deals and all this publicity and then their record sucks (cause they don't write their own stuff or they just aren't that great anyway) and they can't sell concert tickets so we end up with a bunch (and I mean a bunch!) of AI celebrities who don't contribute to the music industry at all and just waste a bunch of space! There are about 3 exceptions to the rule, all the others need to get lost!

3. Breaking Dawn sucks! I can't think of one good part, or one good chapter that I like. It's horrible. It does not diminish how I feel about Twilight or the other books in the series, but still they aren't my favorite books ever, but I like the first three and I do like the movie.

4. Diaper bags - I always see those really ugly ones at Walmart (I'm sure they're everywhere) and I just think it's bad I carry one at all, and mine's black and dark green! I'm shopping around for a purse right now that can act as both, GOODBYE DIAPER BAGS FOR ME!

5. I have not seen P&P but I don't feel the need, the long 8 hour one covers everything, it's like word for word right out of the book.

6. I HATE LDS fiction SO much! Seriously, join the real world and read a real decent book. I have had bad experiences to say the least. Despite good intentions there have been some really bad innapropriate and almost blasphemous things written. Do not write about really spiritual things in a fiction book PLEASE!

7. I hate it when people spell wrong or use stupid shortcuts. Teens do it a lot, and they really don't need to act any dumber you know...I hate when people use numbers for words like 2 (too, to) or 4 (for) or when they use cuz or tonite, I hate all of it and it's everywhere. It's like can we just speak and write regular english, or at least try?

I love posts like this. It is always fun to see what people think. Ü
1. I like some fast food places. Some times I just don't want to cook.
2. AI: I don't have cable TV and have never followed or liked the show.
3. I still haven't read the Twilight series. After Kevin read most of the books, and whined SOOO much during them, I had to take a break. He kept saying these are so girly! And I kept telling him, so stop reading them! Men are silly.
4. I do carry diaper bags. But usually try to keep them pretty neutral so Kevin can carry them too. My current one is olive green.
5. The new P&P is my favorite. Kevin and I both enjoy it more then the A&E version. I also like that it is shorter. But I haven't read the book.
6. Never really got caught up in LDS fiction. Maybe if I was more of a reader I would.
7. If spell a word wrong it isn't on purpose. I am a horrible speller and rely on: my computer, the internet and Kevin (he is a good speller). Even this little comment window has spell check which is awesome. Ü
