Attempt #1:
The problem here was that you had to either drill holes into the door, or attach the top part with a little adhesive patch. That didn't last too long, and pretty soon the top part just fell off, rendering this contraption totally useless.Attempt #2:
These actually worked for a while until Eden either figured it out, or just put so much weight on the handle, that it actually just slid over on its own and opened. Eden will try a million times until she figures it out or it breaks. Jonah would have left it alone, but sure enough, Eden showed him how to open it. Since they have been able to open this one, we have had food everywhere, puzzle pieces and crayons dumped out, and Eden has been trying to get to the houshold cleaners in my craft closet. (We had one on the craft closet door and the pantry door.)Attempt #3:
Peter made an ingenious little device that kept the kids from opening the previous door locks. Until they figured out to just remove it. That lasted maybe two days.
Final Attempt:
If this doesn't work, someone will go in the chokey! We finally broke down and bought new knobs that have a push-button lock on the back side. We can open them from the outside with a little "key" or a bobby pin. Horray! Now our pantry will be tidy and my crafts are safe! We might have some tantrums, but they'll get over it, and maybe if they learn to stop making messes we can replace the handles. But by then Levi might be getting into things...

I definately need one of those on my pantry - Brayden re-arranges it daily - it's one of his favorite places to play!
e tried locking the doors for a while, but sometimes the doors didn't get locked and then we were in trouble. So the door knob covers work well for us, because they are easy to use (once you get used to them) and they still keep the kids out, while giving you easier and quick access to your stuff!
Here is a link for babies r us, if you want to see what they look like.

I forgot to mention that before we got the knobs, they were handles and were easier for the kids to open. I don't think we'll need any other baby proofing products now, since we can lock the doors and keep the key right next to it.
I got so worried when I read the title of this entry. I am so glad to find it isn't your house getting broken into! I hope this works with the kids. Good luck!
That little Eden is getting pretty smart and will probably end up teaching Jonah a few more things down the road! Too bad the best place to put the chokey is the pantry space!!
I had to do this with Gracie's closet!! Any time I put her down for a nap or to go to bed she would empty all of the clothes out of her drawers and every single toy onto the floor. We had to put EVERYTHING into the closet and LOCK the door. We kept a key above the door frame and opened it only when we wanted something out of it! ha ha ha Good times!
Love it! Our kids have problems escaping out the front door. We had an alarm installed and now every time the door opens, it chimes at me. That cured the kiddies! They can't get away with sneaking off now!
Wish I could lock my pantry. Bummer. I have those stupid bi-fold doors. My kids don't throw the snacks around like confetti, they eat them! I can buy 5 boxes of fruit snacks and they're all gone within 5 minutes if I'm not careful.
