Our Weekend

Jonah had his first T-ball game on Saturday. It was pretty cute. Our team did really well, and in my opinion won, even though we don't keep score ☺

These kids are all three and four years old. It is amazing that they can learn the game this young! They play three innings per game. They don't keep score, and there are no doubles and no outs; the kids run to the next base every hit. It's a great way for these little guys to understand baseball.

Here are the kids with their coach, deciding on a team name. The kids had a few ideas: Ninja Turtles, Lions, and Gators, but we went with the Crocodiles!

...and I just noticed that that pitcher just ran the ball to first base! Cheap!

That's one good thing about our team and coach. Our kids learn to stop the ball, then throw it to first base. Sometimes they get out of position and dog pile on the ball, but they are learning to throw.

Grandma, Lexie, and Sharrid showed up halfway through the game. Jonah was pretty excited to have so many supporters, especially his last time batting. We all cheered for him as he ran to first base and he looked over at us and had the cutest smile on his face! I think he was really excited to see Grandma.

The kids had fun with their cousins after the game. It was record-breaking hot this weekend, so the kids were ready to get in that pool! I think we need a bigger one, but the kids don't seem to mind their knees buckling as they hit that wall...

Grandma and Kira had to leave before we went to church. Here are the kids all ready to go. Kira did Levi's hair!

Fall Break

This is what happens when you don't clean off the camera for a few weeks!

We got a new slide for the backyard. The kids have been loving it!

Jonah has been going to lots of T-ball practices...

Princess Eden got potty trained...
And most of us have been sick, but we are better now!

Guess Who's Potty Training?

Yep, Eden has finally come around to the idea of using the toilet instead of carrying her waste around with her everywhere she goes. I have to say, I thought this day would never come, but then again, if I remember right, that's how I felt when Jonah didn't potty train until he was over 3.5 years old!

She has had a few little pee accidents (mostly because I wasn't paying attention,) but she is doing really well. I had been dreading the first poop, but I told her that she could have a new toy if she pooped in the potty, and that did the trick! So she got a new Thomas train. Jonah is really jealous and the poor guy doesn't understand why Eden gets a new train just for doing something he does all the time. I keep reminding him that his birthday is coming up.

Anyway, Eden is well on her way. She is in Pull-Ups at night so far, but hopefully that won't last long. It only took Jonah about two weeks to make it through the night, so we'll see!

Story Time with Daddy

Peter had let Levi stay up late last night, and was reading him books while I was painting the living room. Here's what I heard:

Peter reading: Hi, I'm Emily Elizabeth. And this is Clifford, my big red dog. Clifford likes to play and splash in the ocean. Sometimes he makes a big mess. One day we went to visit my great-grandma. She likes Clifford. She made us some cookies. But then the police came and arrested her because she'd put drugs in the cookies. So Grandma went to prison. We went to visit her and she did not like prison at all. "I hope I make parole," Grandma said.

I was a little incredulous, though I don't know why. Peter does this stuff all the time. He must not have the attention span to read a kid's book without "embellishing" the details. Pretty soon our kids will be old enough to understand, so no more additions, thank goodness! Ha ha, please tell me I'm not the only one whose husband does this...

So on Saturday I was at Joann's getting some fabric for Eden's costume. While I was getting my fabric cut, the little old lady working behind the counter started telling me about her asthma trouble and how much her medicine costs. She explained how her insurance covered all but $20 of the meds, but now she doesn't have insurance and she just goes down to Mexico and buys the same stuff from the same manufacturer for $35 for a whole bunch. The whole time I'm thinking, "This is so random! What's with the confession? Just cut my fabric and let me leave!" It was so weird. After her little story was through, (she had finished cutting my fabric before the story was over) she came out of her reverie and told me to have a nice day. Um, knowing that there is a drug-smuggler working at Joann's in the form of a tiny old lady? Okay...

Yesterday Jonah started walking around saying the alphabet BACKWARDS. He got stuck once or twice and had to sit and think for a second. Peter and I were thinking, "What the heck! Where did he come up with this?"
