Overdue: General Conference

Okay, so General Conference was awesome! I always come away from Conference feeling so full. I loved all of GC, but my favorites were all three talks from the YW General Presidency in the General YW Meeting, Elder Uctdorf's talk about our own personal Road to Damascus, Elder Bednar's talk on revelation, Elder Richard G. Scott's talk on marriage, and Carl B. Pratt's talk on tithing. Each message was so inspiring. It seems there is always a theme for each Conference, although Jeffrey R. Holland seemed to think that there was much variety of topic! What I mostly heard was:

"Families are TV rich and family poor." Turn off the TV. (Happy to report that we are making huge progress here. The kids don't really even miss their movies!)

The errand of angels (to do Heavenly Father's direct bidding) is given to women.

Attend the temple often.

Prepare my children to take the sacrament each week.

Help the poor and needy.

The blessings of tithing are often spiritual, rather than temporal, and are related to the family.

“Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”

We tend to emphasize marvelous and dramatic manifestations that we forget that the spirit usually works simply, with small spiritual impressions over time.

Common themes-
Welfare/Service
Testimony/Personal Revelation
Marriage
Obedience/Covenants

What was your favorite talk?

Still catching up on what I missed. Scott used to be my favorite growing up, but I have to say nobody speaks to me like Holland. His talk was my favorite so far, but I have a lot to catch up on.

President Uchtdorf hands down! Although I had too many to choose from for our next RS lesson schedule...when you only get to choose 5, it's not so easy.

I love hearing what your highlights were. I didn't even hear the YW conf but I want to now because of how you talked about it. Temple, covenants, marriage, and personal revelation definitely stood out to me. It all made me so happy. It pointed out so many blessings we have that we can easily take for granted. Thanks for your post. I realle enjoyed this post.
