We have been having a great December. Peter was able to take some time off from work because he had lots of vacation days left. It's been nice to have some time as a family. We have been listening to a lot of Bing! The kids also love the song, Holly, Jolly, Christmas" by Burl Ives and they have been singing it nonstop. Eden has been shouting "Merry Christmas" to everyone we pass in the store.
Peter and I went to a Gingerbread House Party this year, and although I thought our finished product was pretty lame compared to all of the others, we got 3rd place! You should have seen some of the other designs. I still can't believe we even placed with
these other houses competing...
Here's our "Christmas Cabin"

We also went to see Princess and the Frog at the movies. The kids all sat through the whole thing, which was quite shocking, but nice. It helps to have a big bucket of popcorn. I thought the movie was... interesting. But I'm sure I'd like it better the second time. I did like the prince; his character was pretty funny. I tried to get a picture when the movie was over, but the kids even wanted to watch the credits!

Last night we finally made it out to the much-anticipated Mesa Temple lights. We missed most of the performance for the night, but the kids still loved it. There are a lot of lights! I had no idea that it was so awesome. We will definitely be doing this every year!

They also had a nativity set up and some other displays, like Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem and the prophet Isaiah. The kids really loved the displays. They wanted to stand there and look at baby Jesus and Mary all night. I would have let them, but it was freezing! Note to self for next year: bring gloves!

So now we are ready for Christmas. Tonight we will be dressing the kids up and acting out the story from the Bible. Then we'll pick out our hiding places to watch Santa come in the morning.
And here's a little present for you all- the pictures from the sweater party! I didn't have as many as I thought, but here's a little taste anyway.

Merry Christmas!

Cool, Jonah's coat would have been perfect for the Temple lights! We are all hiding under the table but I have a feeling I'll be in the hallway with Phoenix ha ha...see you tomorrow
Too Funny!!! We were at the temple lights last night too, that's why we were at Dunkin Doughnuts, getting hot chocolate and doughnuts-yum-it's our Christmas tradition. Glad you guys made it-it used to be a bigger display they've really cut back on the lights, it was freezing and I was thinking the same thing-where are our gloves?
