Jonah got a sunflower seed planted into a cup from Primary a few months ago, and we decided to plant it in our garden and see what happened. It grew pretty fast, and just a few days ago I noticed that it was blooming. I took a few pictures- it looked so happy!

Today, the day after the "first day of summer," I went out back to water the sunflower. Well, this is what I found. Poor guy.

We couldn't stop laughing. That thing was literally in despair. I also found our strawberry plant totally charred by the heat. I think it was pretty much done anyway. But man, it's hot out there! I think it was 113 degrees today!

That poor sunflower lasted about as long as it could (only a few days!). As you can guess, we will not be planting anything for a while.

Oh that poor sunflower! I have to admit, it made me laugh too.
oh sad! That thing was huge! Yeah down here today was 113 too.
I was pretty impressed with your sunflower when I saw the first picture of it. It only made me laugh harder whne the poor thing what just grasping on to life. I guess that's what we get for living in Arizona. Steve asks me each time we talk how his garden is growing... I've only manage to kill one tomato plant, one corn stalk and one pepper plant. I'm doing pretty good this year.
Those pictures are hilarious. I was totally laughing too when I got to the drooping sunflower picture. Poor plants. Too bad they can't live in A/C also.
Poor sunflower! You can just hear it saying, "I'm melting, I'm melting...Oh what a world, what a world." Soon, it's pleas will be silenced for help will be silenced by the Arizona sun.
Sorry, I can't help but think those pathetic plants are kind of funny. They look so sad. I'm mean.
Pretty picture of the sunflower. The center of the sunflower is in the shape of a heart. Too bad the sun had to kill it! I know it has been pretty hot lately. I try to stay inside, of course the kids don't like to stay inside, but oh well.
Okay- so I saw the hair spoiler on Camie's blog. Where are the pictures?? I want to see it!
