Shopping Buddies

Peter hates shopping, and sometimes it must be done. Today I needed to get Jonah some new shoes, return a dress that was a mistake, pick up a few more things at the mall, and go grocery shopping. I just described a day in hell for Peter.

If any of you know us well, you know that Peter and I love making deals with each other. Today's deal was that if Peter didn't have to go to the mall, he would stay home with Eden and Levi. I would just take Jonah. Actually, this is usually what we do when I have to go to the mall.

So today Jonah and I had a fun-filled day doing errands. We listened to High School Musical in the car (he sang the boy parts and I sang the girl parts), got him some new shoes, looked at the puppy store, shared a pretzel, played at the indoor play area, and shopped around.

Jonah is actually a near- perfect shopping buddy. Here's why:
1.He doesn't whine for stuff (yet). We even went into Build-a-Bear, and he saw a koala bear that he liked, but we didn't get it, and he had a great time in there. He said goodbye to the koala as we walked out the door.
2. He doesn't hog the pretzel. He eats just the right amount so I still get enough.
3. He can walk and follow me. No strollers needed, and he usually stays right by me, although near the end, he starts wandering just a little, probably out of boredom.
4. He is fun to sing with in the car. And he doesn't tell me to stop singing.
5. He goes to the stores I want to go to.
6. He doesn't complain! He gets to have a fun day with Mommy, and he gets to go play at the play area, look at the puppies and have a snack. Fun times!

I think the only drawback might be that he is a slow walker, but he actually keeps up pretty good! Thanks for a fun day, Jonah!

He is so cute right now. In a really cute phase every pic I see...he has a lot of neck skin that's cute, he always has, I think he gets that look from Peter. Ha

That's so cute. He does sound like the perfect shopping buddy...esp since he doesn't hog the food.

That is cool that you and Peter make deals. I should do that with Kevin. Because Kevin HATES shopping too. That is a good idea. I will have to do that the next time I have a bunch of errands to do. Jonah is a great shopping buddy. Emma likes to go shopping with me. She is pretty good most of the time.

AWWW! Cute! I wish I had an agreeable shopping buddy like that. After Paige's meltdown at the play area yesterday. . . I can officially rule her out. Your blog is so cute! I'm adding you to my list. And also, we're not going to the movie today because of the above mentioned meltdown. They overstepped the boundary there. Maybe another time!

So cute! Matthew's my best shopping buddy. He is happy, likes to sit in the cart and doesn't ask for things yet. Andrew and Elise are not so fun! Glad you have someone to go shopping with!

Well, I'm glad that works for you. Personally, I hate shopping. I want to get in, get out, and get home as soon as possible. Gavin likes to stereotype me and say that I love to shop, but there's nothing further from the truth. When I run errands all day, I get headaches. When I go to the mall, it takes me forever to get what I need becuase I'm very picky. But maybe if I had a boy like Jonah...it'd be nice to make a date of it. Glad you had fun, but you've decsribed Peter's and my worst nightmare!

That's awesome that he's so good for you while you shop together. None of my kids would last that long. Come to think of it, I wouldn't either. I hate shopping, and I think my kids got the hate shopping gene too.
