Remembering Grandpa Willard

My Grandpa Willard passed away last week at age 94. My sister, Lexie, wrote a blog post about him that pretty much sums up my memories of him. You can read it on her blog- there is a link on my list under Sharrid and Lexie.

I will miss seeing my Grandpa every Thanksgiving. You could see the pride for his family in his eyes as he watched us all during the weekend. He loved to talk about his family and his work. He would always tear up while remembering days gone by. I think that a lot of us inherited the crying from Grandpa Willard. He would even cry during our family's "Silly Song Night." While we were making complete fools of ourselves singing and dancing, I would always look over and see Grandpa just laughing and crying at the same time. He was very sentimental and loved us grandkids.

He loved to garden and was really good at it. I used to love going out back in the garden and walking among all of the flowers. Then we'd pick some green onions and Grandma would wash them off for us so we could eat them raw like carrots.

We will be going to St. George for Thanksgiving again this year. We will miss seeing Grandpa there, but I am just really grateful that I have a little of him in me and that I can say that I got my crying problem from my Grandpa Willard!

We love you, Grandpa Willard!
